French Tutoring & Summer Camps
Incorporated in 2021, and with over 9 years of experience, Nancy and the French Kitten team offer customized work plans for both children and adults, as well as summer camps before school starts in September.

We offer classes in person in Barrhaven and Almonte, as well as online!

One-on-One Lessons
I know how difficult it can be to find a reliable teacher that focuses on One-on-One Lessons. Teachers need to be able to motivate and guide students to success. As an experienced language tutor, I can identify students’ problem areas and work with them in positive, constructive ways to achieve success. I design my lessons according to my students’ needs, with an emphasis on confidence-boosting activities. During the first class, I spend about 30-45 minutes with the student to evaluate all forms of French (written, spoken, reading, writing), then 15-30 minutes with the parent to provide feedback (if classes necessary, give resources, plan if tutoring necessary, confirmation of how they're doing, etc).
Summer Camps
Educational summer day camps the last 2 weeks of August.
Adult Classes
Beginner adult French classes following a curriculum for conversation. We can add some grammar, if desired. Group classes are also available.
Vision
Every person is different and needs to learn in their unique way. Connecting with people, especially kids and teenagers, to show that they are truly cared about, opens up the possibility to understand and learn about their unique learning style and challenges. Everything can be understood eventually with time and various types of resources. My hope is that each person at The French Kitten can find the encouragement and tools they need to advance their French skills.
About Me
Je m'appelle Nancy
Bonjour! My name is Nancy and I have been tutoring for the past 9Â years. I have also worked for a couple of small French tutoring businesses in both the GTA and Ottawa. I was born in Montreal and now I'm settled in the Ottawa region. My parents were bilingual, so I was fortunate to be bilingual from the start! I have taught toddlers, kids, teenagers, and adults. I specialize in teaching French immersion students from JK to grade 8, core French students up to any grade, and beginner-level adult conversation. I am excited to be working in the Barrhaven & Almonte neighbourhoods now!
Nancy is a very caring and emphatic tutor who has the ability to tailor her lesson plans around the individual child’s needs and circumstances.  She has an easy-going and flexible approach which ensures strong rapport building which encourages the child to want to do well.  She was always able to accommodate time schedule changes and adapt to whatever is best suited for my son.  My son loved his time with Nancy, and I can highly recommend her.
